Strokes: Paintings by Pat Conrad

Image
Red Dot Gallery presents “Strokes,” an exhibit of oil paintings by longtime Red Dot student and friend, Pat Conrad. The exhibit opens March 7 and runs through May 3, 2015. An opening reception will be held Saturday, March 7 from 5 to 8 pm. Pat has been inspiring other students at Red Dot with her expressive paintings for seven years. Her wide range of subject matter is tied together by her interests: people, places, and imagery she loves. This is her first solo exhibit.

No More Kid Class

Image
After over ten years of teaching kids at Red Dot I (Dori) am drawing - no pun intended - this adventure to a close. I have opened another adult class (Thursday afternoon, 12:30 to 2:30) for the continuing and growing popularity of my adult classes. I will miss being around the wisdom and unfettered creativity of little ones.

Steamboat Ski Vacation

Our holidays were spent with Dori's family in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. While most of the family skied, Scott fished for trout. It was hard to take a bad photo.

Single Stem

Image
My husband, Scott Bennett recently judged a juried exhibition called Single Stem. A collection of bud vases, each designed to showcase a single specific flower, will open this Friday at The Kiln Studio and Gallery in Fairhope, Alabama, from 6 to 9 pm. These are just two samples of the delightful pieces Scott chose.

Party Animals

Here are my newest paintings. They are small (4"x9") and are a light version of my more introspective paintings. Which is a little break for me. I call them my Party Animals. Available at Red Dot Gallery.

Fairhope Art Trip

My husband Scott and I traveled with our good friend Sebastian Moh , who had an opening at the Kiln Studio gallery. Susie Bowman, another good friend and owner of the gallery hosted the opening exhibit and, the following night, a grand dinner cooked by Sebastian. I can't post images of the dinner because I'm contracted to write an article about the gathering for Ceramics Monthly magazine, but I will say it was all delightful. I will give notice when the article is scheduled to be published.  The Mardi Gras exhibit at the Mobile Museum of Art is comprehensive, overwhelming, and fabulous. We took a beach walk to see the remains of old kiln sites and a beach littered with pottery shards from the 1800s.  Some o...
