Opening tonight at Red Dot Gallery, 5-8 pm: Cloud 9 , Paintings by Marcia Amason. Please help us celebrate the work of our dedicated longtime oil painting student. Her deftly painted works of life beneath the sky capture thoughtful moods and invoke reverie, while her compositions offer viewers imaginative visual connections. Exhibit runs through October 28. Red Dot Gallery presents the paintings of Daniel White. Opening August 11, 2017 with a reception for the artist from 5-8, the show will run through September 9. Daniel received his BFA from Montevallo University, and his MFA from  RIT-School for American Crafts. In addition to working on both painting and ceramics, he worked professionally in art museums for 10 years. He is currently a full-time painter, and a part-time educator.

The Red Dot 2017 Student Show opened Friday night to the usual friendly and enthusiastic crowds that support our openings. We are grateful to the students, collectors, friends, and well-wishers who make Red Dot the happy place that it is. 

I finished and sold this painting recently. No title or meaning yet. Stay tuned. There are a couple spots left in my Without a Net creativity workshop, Saturday, April 29. Here is a link to all the details.

Join Red Dot at the opening reception of "A Brush with Casey," the first solo exhibit of longtime Red Dot oil painting student, Casey Lancaster. The reception will be held Friday, January 27, 5-8 pm. The show will run through February 27. 

Thank you to all who donated diapers during our December Diaper Drive to benefit the YWCA in Birmingham. We created quite a work of art at the gallery with them.

I've been under the weather for a few months now (nothing serious) and I've found that when I'm not traveling and seeing new vistas I become more interested in seeing the world close up. Here are a few photos from my yard and nearby trails. Loripedalum Creeping Flox Spider web  Cherry blossoms? Definitely cheery blossoms. I forget.
