By the Self-Same Sky  Here are paintings I completed in the past few months. The titles are taken from Shakespeare's sonnets and vaguely point to the theme of each piece. All pieces are 16" x 20" and are oil paint on board. Watch for a detailed explanation of them on my blog, WithoutANetBlog.com . My Recent Paintings

Image
The Painted Banquet Bids My Heart   In addition to the ermine painting of the last post, I've completed a few other paintings in the past few months. Here are a few. I've been working on a couple others which will both be finished soon as well. I'm always working on paintings, but sometimes it seems (if you aren't in my studio) like I do nothing for six months, and then suddenly I show up with a stack of work. It's stack time! A Banner Day

Image
I traveled yesterday to Huntsville to photograph my exhibit at the Huntsville Museum of Art. I have been blown away by the grand presentation, the great response, and wonderful staff at the museum who've put the show together with such professionalism. I was especially excited to see my banner, which went up a few weeks ago. They said I get to keep it when the show comes down, so look for the giant bear on the side of my house when you drive by.

My Paintings on The Wall Breakers

Image
My paintings are featured on The Wall Breakers , an uncommonly refreshing art site. It features a wide variety of interesting work and the commentary is to the point, unpretentious, and insightful. It stands out by showing current and relevant work while keeping an uplifting tone. I never see post I don't like. James Scully wrote some good comments on my work.

Kitty Princess All Gussied Up

Image
Here is the painting after adding more contrast and changing some of the colors. Now her head doesn't look more defined than the rest of the piece. It's funny how I could have taken the old version of the painting and made these changes with photoshop. (How do you know I didn't?)

Buriest Thy Content

Image
From my self-portrait series, "See Right Through Me," this is called "Buriest Thy Content." It is about the nasty inner critic who ruins creativity with over-analysis and cynicism. All my titles come from Shakespeare's sonnets. I'm currently writing a book about the series. 16" x 20"  Oil on Board
